Avalanche Lake Hike at Glacier National Park

*** Hiking Safely In Grizzly Country

We did this hike one day after the Mud Lake Trail, so naturally we were VERY sore. This hike was a beautiful way to spend an afternoon. It's very doable for those less able and also small children, and it's very accessible from Going-to-the-Sun Road. We spent about 2-3 hours on this out and back trail and the payoff is remarkable. You go through some dense woods and come out at a spectacular lake where you can see water pouring down the mountains as far as you can see. The trail gets pretty crowded, but is still very enjoyable. Would highly recommend if you only have a little bit of time at the park!
